After graduating from the École nationale de lutherie in 2011, Benoit won the 2012 prize for excellence for the next generation of entrepreneurs from the Association des métiers d'art et artisans du Québec. He also won a grant from the École nationale de lutherie in 2011 and the 2011 Odette Théberge design prize from the Centre de formation et consultation en métiers d'art. He was an emerging craftsperson finalist at the Prix d'excellence des arts et de la culture 2015 gala.
His 15 years teaching architecture drafting make him a skilled teacher, who will pair communication with popularization in this enriching creative experience.
Guitares DIÈSE, a string instrument workshop, is his life's work. Deciding to centre his work around creation was a crucial step and point of non-return for Benoit.
Benoit's creations stands out both by his fine craftsmanship and his discrete yet striking visual signature. He juxtaposes traditional crafts techniques with new technologies, such as 3D modelling, a method in his design toolbox.
His choice of materials sets the tone. Mainly tuned to acoustic quality, his production is influenced by Benoit's first vocation in architecture and the modernist movement. The results are visually elegant guitars with self-sufficient shapes and functions that also leave room for discrete and carefully chosen decoration.
