Marie-Claude lives and works in L'Islet. She earned a DEC in Techniques de métiers d'art, with an option in Sculpture, from the Maison des Métiers d'Art de Québec in 2009. Since 2010, she has been developing interdisciplinary projects in public spaces that connect communities. She contributed to the inn's trails and historic interpretation where her artistic sensibility complimented that of Nancy, the inn's owner. The artist's sculptural approach seeks to bring out the properties of the materials. Bathed in nature, she builds organic shapes that seek harmony and balance. Her shape-structures use assembly, contrasts and an unusual mix of materials. Her work strives to evoke memory and transpose a fragile strength, a likely cause for emotion.
The Auberge des Glacis inn
The Auberge des Glacis inn was founded in 1989. Over the years, the establishment acquired a reputation for its warm ambiance and gastronomic fare, today crafted with over 55 locally sourced products.
Nancy is beginning her tenth summer as innkeeper. From the very beginning, this former journalist succeeded in spreading the inn's reputation beyond the Côte-du-Sud, thanks to her commitment to putting the region's growers in the spotlight and offering creative activities, such as dinner-shows, thematic evenings and cooking workshops.
